The story for this came from a friend, Dave Wright (Dave, if you're out there, gimme a shout out, buddy) who liked the Roadkill Bill comic in Frenzy and wrote this little masterpiece for me. He was always a great writer and had, in my opinion, the definitive Fantastic Four story which brought the character's powers full-circle with their arch-nemesis Doctor Doom and tied together things in such a way that...
Umm ...I digress. Anyway, I told him I wanted something that screamed "frenzy" to me. Something manic. With the internet, I could see it being a comic that played out like a movie, showing individual panels one at a time. Nothing ground-breaking. I had done something called Virtual Comics (that I can't find anymore) that refreshed the page every 15 seconds or so, just long enough to read the panel before it moved onto the next, but it was better in concept than in the final presentation. So instead, for this, I decided it was best to allow the viewer to go at their own pace, read the text on the page, check out the panel for as long as they wanted (because this was driven by a 'sight-gag' story with emphasis on the chaos in a small environment) and go onto the next. Dave wrote it years previously and then, only once I understood HTML, was I able to give his story the art it deserved. It deserved to come to life, and short of an actual animation, it turned out pretty good, I thought. Thanks, Dave! |
